The Festival is a time for family reunion and peace, and is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest as the full moon is a symbol of prosperity, happiness, and family reunion.

In Dhammapada Verse 204, the Buddha said,

'Health is the most precious gain and contentment the greatest wealth.

A trustworthy person is the best kinsman, Nibbāna the highest bliss.'
