Chinese New Year Message

As we bid farewell to the Year of the Pig, we realize that all good and bad things must come to an end.

This reaffirms the doctrine of Impermanence as taught by the Buddha.

We reflect on what we are grateful for and all lessons learnt must be put to good use in this coming year. The lessons learnt will have a causal effect on all our actions for this coming year, thus let it be wholesome. Let this effect be positive refraining the negative and unwholesome.

In the “Madhupindika Sutta”, The Buddha explains that his teachings are in no conflict with any beings – from the devas in the heavenly plains to human in the sensual realm. Importantly Buddha teaches that conflicts stem from perception, which arises from our five senses. When we uplift ourselves above the weight of the five senses, we remove these perceptions and conflicts can be avoided. And peace and understanding will prevail.

It is easier said but can be done, through the cultivation of Mindfulness.

I wish everyone a peaceful and productive Year of the Rat.
